Alison Mehr has significant experience working with non-profit and community impact organizations. After earning a B.A. from Tulane University, Alison taught public high school in New Orleans through the Teach for America program. Since completing her two year teaching commitment, Alison has worked in finance and development for the past 10 years.
She worked for the Tulane Cancer Center for five years during which time she procured and managed multi-million dollar grants and budgets. In 2006 Alison became the Development Officer for the Southeast Louisiana chapter of the American Red Cross. Here she managed grant writing, major gifts solicitation and donor cultivation, raising 121% of the yearly development goal in the first nine months of the fiscal year. Alison then worked as the Director of the Annual Fund for Loyola University New Orleans, managing the department’s staff, fundraising campaigns, personal solicitations, donor cultivation, and stewardship protocols. In her first year as Director, Alison successfully doubled the amount of money raised by the Annual Fund.
In 2009 Alison formed her own consulting firm and currently serves as President of ALM Consulting and Lead Consultant of Non-profit Affairs for Medical Executive Partners. The firm specializes in all aspects of development, fundraising, marketing, and public affairs. ALM Consulting works with organizations to develop comprehensive development plans and assist with finding solutions for any marketing and fundraising needs they have.
Additionally, Alison has volunteered for local organizations such as the Young Leadership Council, Newcomb Alumni Association and the Planning Committee for the Sojourner Truth Academy. Alison is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). She has presented and conducted seminars at numerous conferences, including national CASE conferences. Alison is currently completing her M.B.A. at Tulane University.
